Uninstall BC

Preferably using Revo Uninstaller and then reinstall

We have some threads on this here already

We have some threads on this here already, but with your Subject, others should find this answer a lot quicker--good work.

The short answer:
It's Garmin's fault.

The long answer:
The fix is a three step process.

1) Uninstall BaseCamp

2) Now go to your computer's folders and look for the BaseCamp program folder (probably c:\Program Files(x86)\Garmin\BaseCamp or c:\Program Files\Garmin\BaseCamp) and delete the BaseCamp folder. Garmin's uninstaller should have done this during the uninstall but it didn't.

3) Now redownload and reinstall BaseCamp from Garmin.

You will now succeed. Without performing Step 2, you will receive that error message.

New update today

There is a new update today. I used it and did not have to uninstall BaseCamp. The missing .dll was one of the fixes in today's update. I now have 4.3.2.

look it up on your window system folder

Your window folder system is full of DLL files. click on C drive ,click on window and you will find hundred of DLL files, scroll down when you find the one that is called msvcr90.dll just do a copy, go back and open the base camp (right click on base camp select properties) open it and do paste.
And your problem should be solved.

Same Here

Upgrade went fine on my Win7 laptop and BaseCamp started with no problem.

Update OK - Now 4.3.3 is available.

I waited until BaseCamp notified me that an update was available and asked if I wanted to install now. Went without any problems. The first startup took like 10 minutes for it to open, as it was indexing my files. I have around 9,000 waypoints and 15 or so maps in it.

Whups, I just opened it and it says 4.3.3 is available to install.

Fixed issue when importing a file and errors or warnings are encountered in the file
Fixed issue with adding or editing an activity profile
Fixed issue with changing the cover photo of an Adventure
Fixed issue when joining tracks

4.3.3 worked. Thanks all

Seen this to late

I was going crazy trying to find the msvcr90.dll to reinstall on my computer. I was scared if I uninstalled the program I would lose years of files. Got tired of trying to fix it so I just went to the control panel and uninstalled the program. Once uninstalled I went back and installed basecamp 4.3.3 (same one I did earlier) but this time with success. I didn't lose anything.

Next time I'll remember to come here first! (hopefully) smile

I had the same problem - message about missing msvcr90.dll after install.

I tried various versions of that dll and all gave me an error about an illegal/incorrect version. I also have several other versions on another drive from a previous version of Windows. It must be a library file that Garmin has customized.

The only thing that worked was to uninstall the program and then install. Working fine since then.

Just installing current version fixed mine

I decided to try the easiest thing first, and just downloaded the current version of BaseCamp from Garmin's download page, and ran the install.

It appeared to install successfully, showed me previously installed maps, and previous waypoints, and started up without the missing dll message I had gotten minutes before.

So maybe the current installer (I'm writing this on June 21, 2014, and the downloaded file is names BaseCamp_433.exe) patches this problem without the more extensive methods outlined.

Just for information, I'll mention that a search for files with this name on my system in subdirectories under the windows directory showed there to be thirteen copies, of more than half a dozen distinct flavors based on file size and date.
