According to news article, Maryland lawmakers have passed a law that severely restricts speed camera use in MD. Hard to believe MD legislature finally got something right! See:

Sure

Reforming the entire enterprise is better than scrapping it altogether.

Good First Step

Good first step, but these rules can still be played somewhat.
MD has amongst the largest number of speed & red light cameras in the nation - Rife for abuse & funding other projects.
I've never gotten one but my wife has & she felt that it was incorrect, but didn't spend the day to fight it. Perhaps there should be a mechanism to challenge the finding without having to invest an entire day.

A different take on it

See earlier http://www.poi-factory.com/node/42701 thread on this forum. Maryland isn't really restricting anything. This is a window dressing to make it appear that elected officials are "doing something" while they increase their revenue. Even their bounty camera prohibition is mysteriously delayed until 2017, and you can bet that it will never occur.

The Only Thing MD

The only thing MD is doing is to shut down sites which aren't paying for themselves. Otherwise, the number of cameras continues to increase substantially. That's because MD's spending habits are over the top.
And that from a person who has lived there since 1970 & has never gotten a speeding ticket there.
