Unlock Maps

Since initially unlocking 2014.40, I can't repeat the task. Following the steps to repeat the job on line results in a dialog box stating the map(s) were successfully unlocked, but when I open RoadTrip a message says the map detail is locked and recommends That I unlock the map on line.

Managing maps using MyGarmin shows that I originally unlocked 2014.40 on March 15, 2014 and lists the Unlock Code.

What must I do to use my map to create a route ?

Thanks,
Bill

Do you have to use Roadtrip

Why not use your device to create a route?

Route

I guess you could use the Old Mapsource program or the new BaseCamp to create routes then load them to your GPS unit.

I've never done it with Basecamp, but it would be a good skill to learn.

Or as mentioned above, you could just create a route on your unit.

Unlock Maps

Thanks for your input, guys. I think something is screwed up in the software, but I'll give your suggestions a try.

Unlock Maps Solution

One can unlock maps manually when working in Garmin Road Trip. That Mac application includes a pull-down Unlock menu at the top of your monitor. One of that menu's pull-down options is "Edit Unlock Codes." Invoking that option produces a table that is 3 fields wide. The left hand field is labeled "Unlock Code."

When the steps to unlock a map online fail, all the fields in the Unlock Code column of the table are blank. Cutting and pasting an unlock code into the top filed in the Unlock Code column automatically fills in the adjacent "Map Product" column with the title of the map that corresponds to the unlock code. Once that happens the details of the map are unlocked in Garmin Road Trip.
