Auto download into Base Camp

It seems that when I connect my GPS (1450) to Base Camp, it auto downloads into BC. There are additions and deletions that I made in BC and do not want them on my GPS until I want them on it and vice versa. Am I looking at this or doing something wrong?
Basecamp
When you connect a GPS to BC it displays the tracks, waypoints, etc on the map and in the left hand panel but it doesnt actually download them to the "My Collections" directory until to tell it to by dragging them from the lower panel into the upper panel.
