Garmin Mechanic with ecoRoute HD

I downloaded Garmin Mechanic from Android Market. I don't recall there being any instructions.

That is the booklet that comes with the ecoRoutes HD cable that really doesn't provide much, if any, useful information.

I've looked all over, I even emailed Garmin and they don't even know. The book that comes with it just tells you how to hook it up, garmin gave me a site on youtube and that was worthless.

You might try Googling "Garmin Mechanic" and "review". Many times, the online (written or video via YouTube) *reviews* of the unit will give much more info than what's(or what's NOT) provided by Garmin.

I do not have a smartphone but I use my 1490 to see how my car is doing. Since the HD uses the Garmin Bluetooth it would be the same with any Bluetooth App.
First you would download the app and then plug in the HD into the OBD plug of your car. Then turn your car on and start the app and follow instructions. Your smart phone has to be within 35 feet of the car.
When working, tapping each gauge should give you a list of dials you can change it to. Tapping the diagnostic symbol will read your cars computer to see if there is something wrong. If a number shows up, tapping it will tell you where to look or you can tell your mechanic where to look.
This is how the App works on the Garmin and I hope this helps.

I forgot to mention that on very cold mornings you can start the car lock it running and sit inside the house watching your car warm up. Be sure you can lock the car for on cold mornings my scanner has several running cars missing.
