Ads on a 3590?

I've had a 3590 for a few years now and never before have seen any advertising pop up.

Yesterday, the nuvi dinged with an alert about upcoming traffic. When I touched the icon for more detail, an ad for Dunkin Donuts was displayed at the bottom of the screen. I did not touch the ad to see if it would offer coupons or anything else. Instead I just proceeded ahead and joined the slow flow of traffic which was much longer than originally displayed. (I'm sure that any detours taken off of this highway would have consumed more time anyway.)

Things may have changed with recent firmware updates, but as I recall when I first bought the device that it was promoted as being ad free. Lately though, the nuvi hasn't seen much use because my travel mileage has been reduced and this change may have been in place for a while.

Try This

What model Traffic cable are you using?

Garmin has not had any ads on free traffic for a couple of years now, I believed not enough revenue was generated and the sponsors pulled out.

It seems odd to me that in your case the 3590 was promoted as ad free. I could be wrong on that.

If I were you I would first update your firmware as well as any Traffic Provider updates available.
Do so using "WebUpdater".

Next check your Nuvi for the below file to see if it's present:
.system\DDB\RDS_LBA.ddb

If it's present, that is the file that contains the ads. You can safely delete the LBA.ddb file along with the RDS folder. Make a backup if your not comfortable deleting it.

In the past the file would re-create itself but I don't believe that will happen now since free ads no longer appear.
