It is so cold that ...

It is so cold that:

-Your Nuvi has formed a partnership with your w/your vehicle's temperature sensor. As you approach single digits the Nuvi starts flashing "I can find warmer POIs for you ... honest I can!"

-Take your Oregon out for a stroll in this weather & it too starts messaging: "Get inside fool, neither of us were designed for these temperatures, regardless what the advertisements say."

-It is so cold you remember younger days when you would go out skiing in weather like this. You just can't remember why. You are certainly glad you still remember how to dress for it though.

-It is so cold that cleaning up your accumulated GPX files on your units becomes more appealing than cleaning up your driveway again.

-It is so cold that you start looking for a freezing smiley. For want of a better I guess this combination will have to do neutral ... smile

Rain rain and more rain

Been off driving round the block again, 3000km block, must be getting slower in my old age cause it took me a bit over 3 months.

Well it looks like our turn has come, since February we have had two in one hundred year floods in Christchurch, the ground has sunk so much from the earth quakes and now it now longer drains and these poor people are under water, they are now saying it'll be another 2 years before everything is fixed, every time they talk about how much longer it gets extended.

These poor people are going into about the 4th winter in their broken houses. This shouldn't be happening.

The world wide weather is out of control.

I no longer live in Christchurch, lived there for 38 years, never had a earth quake, and the flooding was never this bad, there was always a bit of flooding round the rivers, this is much worse.

Thank goodness you were not there when

Just looking at the earthquake you were talking about and saw these two other major quakes. The page I was looking at only mention the major quakes. From reading the big ones don't come often but are bad when they come. The article said "New Zealand is sometimes nicknamed the Shaky Isles." because of the earthquakes. Was sorry to read about all this. I don't keep up with the news a lot.

Earth Quakes

There was also a big one just out of Christchurch in the previous September, that day we were visiting my daughter, we counted about 100 after shocks, That's an earth quake every 15 minutes. But then there's Haiti, they still aren't repaired, most people there have no insurance either.

Take a look at http://www.christchurchquakemap.co.nz/

Remember before September 4 2010 there were very few earth quakes in this area. We lived there for 38 years and don't remember any which were of concern.

New Zealand is the Shaky Isles, right on the edge of two plates colliding.

That map looks a lot like what we were having.
We have been in our area for 45 years and no earthquakes. But this past year we had over 30 in a 3 month period. There is a lot of gas drilling around here and there were a lot of meetings and after the last meeting NO more earthquakes. It is believed that the gas fracking was causing them. We are in the outskirts and only had one soft bomb and a door moved. These earthquakes made a boom when they happened.
Hope they have stopped. The largest was just over 3 so not much damage.

From all that I can read, he said it was near his home. I don't see where he said it was recent.

He didn't say it wasn't recent either...and the video itself proves it wasn't recent. Only the person posting it can clear this up...was it posted to be taken as a contemporary video? I hope not since it clearly is not contemporary.
