Garmin myTrends

So I really like the myTrends feature as it tells me how long it's going to take for me to get where I want to go in the morning/evening/lunchtime. But once it tells me, it doesn't seem to update as I drive. Worse off, if I want to go somewhere else tonight (and I know where I'm going, say, to a coffee shop first on the way home) it no longer tells me what the cross street is at the top bar. Does anyone know how to acknowledge the myTrends text that comes across the top bar? I've tried clicking on it (which only bring up route options), tried going to the main scree, tried clicking anywhere else, but every time I go back to View Map, there it is again!
Luckily, it is not working
Luckily, it is not working on mine these days despite Travel history checked on my Nuvi 3597.
I think you have two options either uncheck this option or navigate to a route during that time so that it does not pop up on your screen.

I refuse to believe that
I refuse to believe that Garmin would implement something that is persistent on the screen and can't be dismissed! Yes, I can click on a route and then go back to the home screen and cancel it, but that's a lot of work to dismiss a status bar!
I don't actually know what mytrends is useful for yet, at least for me. The time estimates don't seem to be that accurate, and the traffic where I am does not seem to change that much from day to day along my route.
Trying to remember why
I was having some trouble with my 2450 and I turned my trends off and all works fine. Don't remember where but it must be in settings. Turn it off and you won't miss it.

Agreed. While it may be useful in some cases, I don't want to necessarily go to any of these suggested destinations when it prompts me. To cancel it requires WAY too many steps. All there needs to be is a button displayed saying "cancel suggested route". Garmin thinks backwards in so many ways...

I hope they (Garmin) are listening people and fix it one day.

It should be a pretty easy
It should be a pretty easy fix. Go to the home screen and where the stop button is, they should add one for stop myTrends. Or when you click on the top banner, there should be an option to cancel instead of just selecting one of the two routes.
And yeah, I'm starting to think that I'm never really going to use the mytrends feature. Since all of my common destinations are saved in favorites, if I am worried about traffic, I can just click over to the saved icon, select my destination, and look at traffic that way. A few more steps than hitting the top bar and seeing it immediately, but in the long run, it saves me a lot of total steps when right now I have to, on a daily basis, click the top bar, click one of the routes, click back to the main menu, click stop, click back to the map.
