GPX File seeking some HELP

If I cut everything out of the GPX file and paste it in a folder on my computer. That should remove all from my nuvi2555 unite shouldn't it????? I have tried to remove the DATA by doing what gamin says holding pressure on the lower right hand corner and turning on the unit . But all that does is bring up all my passed things into the saved on the unit. for some reason can not send from Google to unit thinking the unit has gave up the ghost But just seems should be able to start like it just came out of the box

Clean up

Connect your unit to computer...If you use BaseCamp the data will appear ... you can delete the SD Card and view the internal data..but will have to open the Garmin file on to clear delete the Current temp file.
OR
If you not using BaseCamp, connect to Computer
My Computer: should open up the GPS Internal Data and also another drive for the SD Card.
Clicking on the SD card will open those files...after saving to a file ...you can delete that data on the SD Card.

Now open the Drive that shows the Garmin Unit...
Open the Garmin fold and delete CURRENT , which is a temp file of data in Internal memory.

Disconnect you GPS unit...turn on ... see if data still there? if so ...turn off...and do the reset my holding finger in lower right corner while powering up your GPS unit...should be prompt to delete user data...

now turn on and check.. I have known for this step to be repeated a couple of times to clear the user data..just did this same process with a friends Nuvi 50LM..and it took three times... ???? ...

At this point...your unit will be at the point of OUT OF THE BOX.

Hope this helps!

.

Not really sure what you are trying to do. But "cut[ting] everything out of the GPX [folder]" on your nuvi will not delete the Favorites and other data stored on the unit.

So can you give more details about exactly what you are trying to do with the unit?

Are you trying to reset it to factory condition?

To delete your favorites (Gpx) from the gps .Go to the GPX folder and look for any files with the GPX extension and delete them.Don't bother with the current.GPX.It will just reload itself back.Dis-connect the unit from the computer and reboot gps.Now manually delete the favorites from the unit.

To delete a favorite or saved location from a nuvi 2200, 2300, 2400, 2405, 2407, 2505, 2507, 2707, 3400, 3500, 3507, 3700, or LIVE series device, follow the steps below:

Touch Where To?
Touch Favorites or Saved.
Locate and touch the favorite you would like to delete.
Some devices require you to touch the Info button (lower-case i) after this step.
Touch the menu button (three lines) in the upper-left of the screen.
Touch Delete.
Touch Yes to verify that you want to delete the selected favorite.
The selected location has now been deleted from the device's saved favorites.

Any time to send favorites to gps using Google and other programs. It loads them into the current.gpx file. The orginial files stay there unless you delete them.So you can delete the favorites manually and unless you have remove the other gpx extensions they just load right back.

To perform a master reset on a nuvi 2405 or 2505 series device:

Note: A master reset will erase all favorites1 and will restore your device to the default factory settings. If you would like to back up your favorites you can find instructions to do so here.

Start with the device turned off and unplugged from power.
To verify the device is powered off and not in standby mode, press and hold down the power button until prompted to turn off the device.
Press and hold the lower right hand corner of the touchscreen
Power the nuvi on.
Remove your finger when a message appears that says "Erase all user data?"
Touch Yes.
If text language is not in English, this is the button on the right.
The device will now be reset. Follow the on-screen prompts then place the device in an area with a clear view of the sky until it acquires satellites.

1Although the master reset will erase all saved favorites, any loaded custom points of interest will remain intact on the device.

Glad it worked out.It is a good idea to clean out the other GPX extensions once in a while. After a while you forget about them.If you use Mapquest to transfer routes the same thing happens.
