Active lane assist

Does anyone know if there exist a TomTom model with something similar as the active lane assist that can be found on the Garmin 3597 for example. (ref: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPAfK9TWkic)?

Yes, TomTom has that feature

Yes, there is a very, very similar display feature on my TomTom GO LIVE 1535. I suspect that there are also other TomTom models with this capability, but I have no personal experience with other models to confirm that statement from first-hand knowledge.

TT ALG

Advanced Lane Guidance (ALG) is a map feature. TT maps are Navcore specific, rather than device specific. Any TT model, that has Navcore 9.0XX or higher, is compatible with any map that has ALG.

The TomTom Advanced Lane

The TomTom Advanced Lane Guidance feature is more or less the same as the Junction View feature of Garmin whereas the Active Lane Guidance feature of Garmin is a real-time animation showing you the different junctions you cross along the way as can be seen in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4h-ofPy4Ha4.

I was just wondering if there is such a feature on some TomTom models. Haven't seen it yet. Thanks.

Diff ??

Honestly, I don't see any significant difference between Garmin's Active Lane Guidance & TomTom's Advanced Lane Guidance, but if you think there is, then the answer is NO.

I is similar in away and I don't see much different.

.

Similar

Since you asked if TT had something similar, I would say the answer is yes. While not the same, TT's ALG feature is certainly similar in that it shows you which lane to take for your route.

So only Garmin's is animated?

I find both systems essentially equivalent

I'm not sure what you mean by animated. As I mentioned earlier, the display on my GO LIVE 1535 TomTom looks essentially the same as that video of the Garmin screen. A few of the details are a bit different, but I would consider them essentially equivalent.

I meant is it a moving image like on the newer Garmin's vs a static image of the lane? I'm still happy with the 3490LMT and that's a static image. I'm not familiar with TomTom so I thought maybe they had something similar now.

Thanks.

I have a Garmin 2460. It has the static Junction View and static Lane Assist. I like Junction View, but find the Lane Assist useful much more often. FWIW.
