Importing .gpx files into Garmin Basecamp

Each time I try to import a .gpx file into Garmin Basecamp I get a failure notice. Does anyone understand what I might be doing wrong? I've tried a file that works in GoogleEarth.

What does your failure notice say?

Here is what I just did. I imported a .gpx file I had recently created for testing purposes by clicking on "My Collection"; then clicking on File, choosing "Import into My Collection", and browsing for the file and opening it.

I could do a right-click on the imported file and then a "Show on map" and see the points (as this was a TourGuide of Atlanta".

Give us some more detail please.

GPX Import

It depends on where that GPX file came from. Basecamp can be fussy about GPX files created with different schemas. You may have to convert the file first. Try using a program like GPSBabel to convert your GPX file. Resave with a new name and then try and load that 'new' file into BaseCamp.

I have had similar issues with GPX files exported from a Geocaching app that I use. BaseCamp would not import them and if I sent them to my eTrex, the device would not recognize the waypoints properly. Using GPSBabel to convert the format of the GPX file took care of that.
