clear out

You need to clear out any other GPX file in that folder. Common names are Temp and Current1. If there are more than 1 file ending in GPX in that folder, the Operating System reads it and adds it to current.

Your saying "some of my favorites" not all, if i understand you correctly. This you can do from the units. First you need hit Saved of course. Next window will show what you have. In mine i see All Saved Places and Address. I do not want to see Address because that means i have it listed twice then. Once under All Saved Places and also in Address. I click address to see whats in there. It shows i saved it as Phone. Ok now i get back out and go into All Saved Places and highlight Phone then hit the info button, then hit the 3 dashes on top left and edit, tap categories and just erase address. Then i go into all saved places again and delete phone. Now its gone for good. Get the drift? Hope that's what you wanted.

Clear Your GPX Folder

Box Car's advice is what will enable you to delete the favorites you want deleted permanently.
Then follow Speed2's advice to remove the selected favorites.

Current.gpx is a file that is a permanent part of the software, you CANNOT delete it, it will always recreate itself. When you boot it loads that file and ADDS any other .gpx files in the GPX folder to the current.gpx file. Although once booted you go into favorites and make deletions they will reappear again on the next boot since the current.gpx file again will add anything that's present in the GPX folder.

So delete all files in the GPX folder Except the current.gpx. Now reboot, and follow Speed2's instructions.
After removing unwanted favorites, reboot again, and now those favorites will be permanently gone.

DELETING FAVORITE

I was doing what Speed2 suggested, but that was too slow. I did what Box Car suggest and it deleted just fine. Thanks for the info.

GPS 3590 FAVORITES

The 2595LMT did ok on deleting the unwanted favortes. but the 3590LMT favortes keeps comming back. Did both of you'll suggestion and it's not woking. I been thinking in doing a restore to see if that will work.

You have one file left in the GPX folder?
EDIT....Never mind that question. I just did a test.
I was sure Box Car was right in what he said also, but seems it only works with the 3790. I do not have two files in my GPX folder after doing a test address. Gotta find out what it did. Normally if I save an address I usually go right in and remove the category. This is a bit different.

Update

I've not had this issue, but thanks to you I learned something about the 3590. First off, I tried Map Source, deleted my test poi, and transferred it over to the unit. At the same time I tried to change the icon on some of my favs. Both failed. I had a look at the unit to see what was modified. The folder SQLite was the only one. Poked in there and copied all files that were modified today. Then deleted them all. Fired up the unit and low and behold the dumb test fav was back. All the files i deleted came back also. Too my surprise they were all the same size as before. Guess no space saving on those....lol. As I said before, when i save something I wipe out the category right away. This is a pain if i were in your shoes, because all i found out is that I can delete multiple favs at once. Not useful to me but maybe to someone else. Saved, All Favorites, squiggly lines, delete saved places.

Thanks to Boxcar and Speed 2.

After re-reading their comments and undestanding what they were saying, I finally got it right. Deleted all my duplicate saved. Now I know how do delete these duplicate save and favorites. Thanks a lot.

glad we could help

When you store a GPX file in the GPX folder on your unit the OS will read it and automatically add the contents to your favorites. This is one of what I call failings in the way Garmin has implemented this 'feature.'

Depending on how you use BaseCamp to create a route you can end up with the entire route points being loaded into your favorites. The key is you do not create a route from waypoints but use the routing tool and use it to build the route so the only thing that shows is the route icon.

If you create a route from 'stops' or waypoints, create the route and then delete all the stops before transferring the route to the Nuvi.
