They've had cameras in the 3rd Street tunnel for about 10 years. The original cameras were dash mounted on an unmarked black sedan that used to park near the E Street overpass facing southbound. This "duty" was a plum overtime assignment for officers that were required to man the car while pictures were taken. I don't think the count of 14,000 plus citations covers the entire period. (Another aside, why are they showing a picture of the US Capitol and Senate Chamber rather than the City Hall at 14th & Pennsylvania?)
