The latest Samsung unit offers GPS routing using Maps App and Google provides a beta version with voice guidance and street level views. Wow!!!!
I have not followed a route yet but it was surprising to see it on the Tablet.

It will work great as long as you set the route destination while still connected to a wifi hotspot or you have 3g or 4g cell service available on the tablet.
I have a samsung player 5.0 and it works fine for the occasional navigation use but would never replace a dedicated GPS unit.

It can work as a pretty good dedicated GPS unit if you load
the maps locally. It will then not depend on Wi-Fi or 3G/4G
and you will not have high data usage.
I use Garmin's Navigon app for this from the play store.
It offers lifetime map updates and also red light cams.
There is both an Android and a iPhone/iPad/iOS version.
