Trip Planner vs Routes

Can anyone provide a single advantage that "Trip Planner" offers over "Routes"?

Planner

I know some users think that having the arrival time to the next segment rather than the final destination is an advantage. From everything I have read about Trip Planner compared to the legacy Custom Routes, I think it is a big step backwards for Garmin. It is why I have stuck with my old nuvi's instead of upgrading.

Trip Planner

I bought a 2450 with Trip Planner that resides in a shelf at home!!! I'd rather use my 1450 or 765 with Routes.
Don't know what I will do in the future if Garmin does not bring back "Routes" but one thing is assured, I will not "ever" buy a unit with Trip Planner!!!
It maybe time to start looking at other GPS brands.
Hope Garmin listens to its customer's and bring back Routes!

Routes

My 855 does routes and so does my 3790.

I can do a 2600 mile route on the 855 without a problem.

The 3790 needs the same route set up in 2 segments, otherwise I get an error message that there are too many way points when I have only given it a start and end location.

I use my Trip Planner often when traveling from Illinois to Florida and back and I have no problems at all with Trip Planner.

Not

Not sure what your attempting to do with the 3790 but what ever it is it isn't a Route. The 3790 only supports Trip Planner.

Love my trip planner

I have a Nuvi 750 with Routes
and a Nuvi 2450 with Trip planner
I do love the trip planner.
You can set it to show distance to next via point or distance to the end of the route.
You can view the map to the next via point and view the trip on the map from beginning to the end of the trip.
I plan the trip on MapSpoource if it is long and on the unit for short trips.
I put in the via points I need then use touch to move them up or down on the unit.
I have been very pleased with my Nuvi 2450 and the trip planning.
