Lifetime maps $54.00

For those that are looking for adding lifetime maps to their Nuvi, Amazon currently has them for $54, including shipping. This price is a bit lower than it has been for a while.

I might add

that I have had good luck purchasing from Amazon partners when they have the "fulfilled by Amazon" attribute; not always so much when they don't. I actually purchased my Garmin Oregon from YourElectronZone (fulfilled by Amazon), which is one of the Amazon partners that has the lifetime map card for $54.

Good price

Too bad I no longer have a need to take advantage of it.

That's a great price!

Thanks

Thanks for the info

Wow

And I thought the $78 I paid two years ago was a bargain LOL! I have used it for every update and hope to use it until Garmin tells me they are not going to update me anymore. AS long as my 765T functions, I am keeping it.

I support the right to keep and arm bears.

I already have life-time maps but

I am going to tell my friend about it. This is how much I paid for it a few years ago from Amazon. Great deal.

CamelCamelCamel

If anyone want to see if the price will go lower, (I did pick it up from Amazon last year for ~ $49 on sale) camelcamelcamel.com is a website you can have alert you when items you select drop below a certain value you set. It works for a few other sites too.

Thanks for the price drop

Thanks for the price drop alert, and thanks for the price tracker website info.

Remember that on black Friday the Garmin map price should be at it's lowest.

Thanks for the info

Debating whether to wait until black friday time.

$119.99

Don't feel bad Aardvark. I picked up the Lifetime Subscription directly from Garmin back in 2008 shortly after they introduced it as a product. And it was $119.99. The first update came out in January 2009. I still have my nuvi 755T, and it has received every lifetime map update ever published by Garmin (15 so far comes out to $8 per update). So I guess even at $120 I have gotten my money's worth.

I don't think it will be that popular since new models come with lifetime maps. For old models, it makes more sense to get a newer model.

You would be amazed how many

You would be amazed how many people out there are still using maps as old as 2008 on their Garmin GPS units. The Amazon price is a good one, and will be popular with anyone looking to update.

Nice price if you need it.

No.

Garmin maps purchased on a pre-installed SD card cannot be updated.

Thanks!

Thanks for the heads up on this - I just ordered the update.

I've been working with the original maps that came with my 760, which I got in January 2009. Not really an issue when you are on Long Island, where no major roads were added in the past 30+ years. Having relocated to Charlotte, NC a month ago, I realized the importance of regular map updates - a number of times my 760 would show me driving across a blank, green area on the map where there is now a highway. And since I had a $50 Amazon gift card, all it cost me was $4. You can't beat that with a stick!

In a tub filled with creamy chocolate mouse or fluffy strawberry whip . . . .

. . . . Really. What's the real difference? All you need is the key code, whether you get the card or they e-mail it to you.

However the product illustrations imply a card and it takes a couple of days to ship it to you, so I suspect you'd be receiving the physical product.

Now I can't wait for mine to arrive!

Actually, from the Amazon page, you will receive a card with a product key code. Once you have that, you go to Garmin's site, log in, and connect your GPS. Use the key code to download the update.

Oddly enough, they have an option to simply download the code, without waiting for the card, but that is $10 more on Amazon...

In this case it comes on a credit card size card but Amazon also sells the lifetime update as simply a code that you download. Advantage, you don't need to wait for the card to ship to you. Disadvantage, it cost $64.

Guess I'll wait for the card...

Being the cheapskate that I am, I will just order the card and wait a few days for it arrive. (haven't updated the maps in the 750 for a while anyway.... so waiting a couple more days shouldn't be a problem). grin
