Who gets Navteq to update POIs (or does Garmin)?

Capital One bought Chevy Chase Bank in 2009 and changed all branch branding in 2010 (I think). But searching for Capital One bank in the Garmin yields nada.

I have talked to a bank employee who claims to have worked for Garmin and he told me Navteq provides the POIs.

my nderstanding

My understanding is the data is purchased from a 3rd party so it's not even Navteq's database. From some of the listings I have seen for POI in my location the database consists of names and addresses found on business licenses and may or may not be an actual location for the business.

Yes, Garmin uses Navteq's POI database...

and Navteq uses some sort of third party POI database to start. Navteq then adds to the database themselves becuase I have reported POIs to them and my reports have been resolved and my POIs were eventually added to Navteq's maps (and then eventually added to Garmin's maps as a result).

You can go to Navteq's website and report POI and street corrections and additions. I have no idea how long they take to filter down to the Garmin maps but I have reported things and have seen the status change from in progress to closed so someone does look at them.
