Nuvi 50 does have a(n)...

The Garmin Nuvi 50 does have an SD memory card slot, just fyi. That is probably a no brainer, but I found it amusing that there were no diagrams in the manual labeling the parts of the unit, so I couldn't be sure. I read the full manual online and saw that it says the 50 does have the slot, but it isn't mentioned in the quick start guide.

stands to reason

It stands to reason it wouldn't be in the quick start. You don't need an SD card to operate the unit and that's what the guide covers - operation.

The Place To Look

The place to look if you have questions about a unit is in the specs section.

For the 50, it is here

...or page 17 of the online Owners Manual:

.

I'm not aware of any modern nuvi that doesn't have a slot.

I understand

To be clear, I had already found the slot for the card. I am simply stating that I found it amusing they would not mention its location at all, anywhere. Usually a slot of that nature has some sort of icon nearby to indicate what it is. My device does not. Having had used items like this before, I know what to look for. The manual would be of no help to someone who does not have this experience. That is my point.

Plus

The opening for the SD card looked more to me like an opening for a mount. Now I was able to figure that wasn't the case. It just was not very clear from the beginning, one if it had an SD card slot, and two, where it was.
