Almost forgot

Can anyone tell me why when I loaded the 'Red Light Camera" POI file onto both my SD card and the internal memory for my nuvi 680, why it is not showing up at all on my GPS when I'm on the road? I passed through several intersections today with cameras and got no notification. Thanx.

.

Did you use POI Loader to load the file?

Do you have the alerts set on your unit?

When you say they don't show up on your nuvi, are you saying that they don't show up in your Custom POI listing? Or do they not show up on your Map Screen? Or both?

Did you check to see if the locations you drove through are in the database? You can open the file on your PC and look at the data?

Hey Mama. It looks like

Hey Mama. It looks like when I check my Custom POI listing on my SD card, the Red Light POI file does show up. But when the SD card is inserted into the nuvi that particular file is missing while the other files are present. I'm not even sure now if the Custom POI's that I'm seeing on my nuvi are from the SD card or the internal memory. Not sure what to do.

And as far as the locations I've driven through being in the database or not, the database doesn't seem to identify the intersections by street names. It looks more like coordinates, so I'm not sure at this point.

Well after that post I

Well after that post I backtracked and loaded the POI file directly into my nuvi's internal memory and.... BINGO.... it shows up onto my Custom POI list. Is there some setting I need to change to allow the nuvi to read the POI files from the SD card instead of the internal memory, or does the unit pull the information from both locations concurrently?

.

When you run POI Loader, it takes all the POI files that you are loading and creates a single poi.gpi file at the destination (whether it's the SD card or the unit itself), so you need to have all the POIs you want to load under the same directory (you can have subfolders under this directory) and load all of them at the same time.

The unit can only read one poi.gpi file at a time. So, if you want them on your SD card, delete the poi.gpi file from your unit.

Other people will chime in here with a method to avoid loading all the POIs at the same time.

Thanx for your help. I

Thanx for your help. I really appreciate the input. I should have posted sooner. I'll keep you posted on how it goes. Have a great weekend!
