Summary: This is a location list of places to snorkel in California.
Details: California has some nice snorkeling places, La Jolla cove in San Diego likely being the best mainland snorkeling spot along with areas around California's islands. While California's coral has long since given itself over to become California's legendary white sand beaches (more like sandy blond beaches), snorkeling in California's light green ocean waters will reveal seals, beautiful kelp beds, lots of sea grass and rock, and an interesting variety of colorful fish and rays. La Jolla cove additionally offers a chance to swim with the friendly sevengill sharks and leopard sharks in the protected La Jolla Underwater Park Ecological Reserve.
