Bad Elf

Anybody using Bad Elf with their iPad or iPhone?

I just ordered one for use with an iPad or iPhone and was looking for some user reports.

Apparently You've missed my posts on it...

I've posted plenty about BadElf.

It works as they advertise it. Allows you to use iOS devices that don't have internal GPS with any app that needs accurate location information... from a 1st generation iPod Touch to the latest wifi iPad... and will give an iPhone location data that supplements its own internal GPS receiver, or - provide location data to the phone when its in airplane mode, and the phone's own GPS turns off due to being in airplane mode.

In short, it just works. With a good app, an iOS device and BadElf can be a total replacement for a stand-alone personal navigation device.

You Covered All The Right Points

I was considering a newer and more capable stand-alone PND, but I am considering using BadElf with the iPhone4S or iPad2 instead. The apps available for use with BadElf look pretty good. The BadElf has a higher data rate that is attractive for my use.

I'll be using the Garmin app with all maps onboard, and Navigon. It should be pretty good on an iPad.

Navigon is awesome on iPad

In my opinion, Navigon is the best iOS app out there.

I'm looking at http://www.mountguys.com/ -- thinking about a seat-rail mounting option for the iPad...

Got It!

BadElf arrived today. It's pretty good, very nice on the iPad.

I'm using Garmin and Navigon. It just works, very simple. Plug it in and presto, GPS capability.

I just got a bunch of stuff from mountguys

mountguys seem to be pretty good. I just received an order I placed yesterday for iPhone mounts. I'm in the same UPS zone. Seemed to be the best prices.

Let me know what you end up getting for the iPad.

BadElf on the iPad Is Pretty Good

I have an iPad2, WiFI only, and the BadElf on the iPad2 with Garmin or Navigon mapping is pretty good. Navigon is written for the iPad, so it has that going for it.

This BadElf is pretty good. I am very impressed with the capability it adds to the iPhone and iPad.

I first tried a vent-mount clip thing and after discovering how much that sucked, got a seat-rail floor mount, and a spring-loaded clip that holds the iPad with it still in the case I use - works very good. Now on long road trips, I can shuffle my iTunes library and have Navigon going... I like it.
