Basecamp or?

Maybe the problem is with your cable, have you tried another one? It could also be your GPS or computer. Good luck

Have you?

Have you tried another USB cable or a different computer? Do you have a friend with a 3790 who would let you try his GPS on your setup? Is it possible to roll back your GPS to the earlier version?

You don't have to answer, just presenting some ideas for you to pursue. If the GPS works fine except for connecting with the software, I don't have any further ideas. Sorry.

Help

I know I read somewhere that the softwear update caused this problem. Anyone know what to do about it?

What will I use to put the map on the SD card. Redownload from Garmin the whole thing?

terminology?

This is probably just a terminology thing, but you probably intended to say detail map (City Navigator) is gmapprom.img. The basemap is file gmapbmap.img and it contains a worldwide map with very little road detail. You don't want to mess with the basemap.

@geochapman: You would use the Mapinstall program to put the map on the SD card, and when installed on SD it will be named gmapsupp.img. It is only named gmapprom.img when it is on internal storage of your nuvi. If you didn't install to the computer during your map download, you may have to redownload the entire map and be sure to select the option to install to your computer.

But in reading your original post, are we talking about the Basecamp program or installing maps? I get confused between your original post and the replies.

Basecamp

Basecamp isn't working after working. I have the .4 map on the 3790 and the computer. Basecamp was working then I downloaded an update to the 3790. I should have known better. If it isn't broken, don't fix it. So now Basecamp can't find the Nuvi. I have no idea how to take the Nuvi back either.
