New Award

Just the feeble mind of an old man thinking but this week RT has been an ACTIVE member for 5 years. Quite a few others are also in this category.
I propose that a special badge be awarded to all who have reached 5 years of ACTIVE membership.

Just a simple "5" badge would be nice to show their longevity as supporting members !

Just my thinking !

I like it. How about silver

I like it. How about silver @ 5yrs., gold @ 10yrs., and platinum at 15.

I'd like it if

after 5 years this site would back off on the posting requirements to keep my windmill. I go away on a trip and come back to find my windmill flew out the door. My 2 cents.

Great Idea

It seems as we get older we have a tendency to travel more than we did when we were younger. It would be nice to keep the windmill. Maybe the posting requirement could be reduced to once or twice per month instead of the current requirement.

Posting and Traveling

Don't most everyone have unlimited data, laptop,or Ipad. there many places to get wifi so you can keep up. I do it all summer while taveling

go for it

another badge, another goal!

Great idea

I think that's a great idea. I'm not sure what the definition of "active" would be, but I guess that depends on what benefits come with it, if any.

There are some that don't

I am a person who has a cellphone for one purpose only; that is to make and receive phone calls while I am away from home. I don't have a laptop or an i-pad. I don't have texting on my cellphone either. I know; some people say that I am old fashioned, but I kind of like it that way. When I got my last phone from Verizon, the customer service rep told me that there are still a lot of people like me. So maybe I'm not so weird after all.

Agree

Don't take my comment personal. I don't have textinr anything on my cell either. If you use a campground or motel most have a computor setup you can use. That was my only meaning. nothing more.

I agree with maddog67. Since retirement I have been traveling quite a bit, while I can still can travel. I usually don't go on-line while traveling.

5 years 25 weeks

And I still get lost.

Time served :P

We were able to make some changes and now, number of years as a member is listed under the badge line.
This is a recognition for everyone regardless of active participation.
We do want to create a five year award for those who have actively participated and continue to participate in our community. That requires more programming both in developing the badge but also a monitoring system.
This has been and will continue to be on our radar until we can get it pushed out.
We appreciate your patience.

And I thought I just joined a year ago...

Ambiguous...

5 years 28 weeks

Whether there is a special "5" badge or not doesn't really matter to me. I'm just glad I found this site. It's been a great resource.

However, I do agree that having the number of years under your name is a nice touch. That's another great thing about this site. The admins are responsive to user input.

Just Noticed

Just noticed the new line indicating number of years as a member. I, too, would like to see the posting requirement for the windmill go away after 5 years. There are times when it's just not possible to participate and the criteria for activity is pretty much not anything that contributes to the site. All you have to do is answer any content or post pretty much anything to get credit.

Good job!

Brilliant idea indicating the 'time served'! smile

Now we'll need gifts to commemorate every 5 years that we're employed at the 'FACTORY'! wink

25 years earns a TV, PC or Golf Clubs! wink

I haven't read all the posts on this subject, but has JM commented on its merits? It's a cool idea.

not a bad idea

That's why I suggested lowering the posting requirement.

Why else is there a "keeping the windmill alive" and "Chit Chat " people say "Good one" "it's Monday.I am guilty of it my self. Might-as-well have a BS forum and just post BS once a week. I really appreciate this site (before I get hammered) but feel the posting requirements is the cause of most the "BS" posts.

Status Quo

I like skimming over the Chit Chat & Windmill threads. It's kinda like a greeting. If you can't post on a regular basis, a modest financial contribution will keep the active status.
