is big bro watching?

You bet

You used to be able to get lost in the crowd, but not anymore. Double click on any area in the picture to bring the person closer. Or, just click the mouse and use the mouse wheel to bring them closer.

You can scan and zoom to any section of the crowd. Wait a few seconds. Double click anywhere. And the focus adjusts to give you a very identifiable close up.

The picture was taken with a robotic 1474 megapixel camera (295 times the standard 5 megapixel camera). Every one attending could bescanned after the event, should something have gone wrong during it.

Incorrect. They are using a standard digital camera
and simply stitching together multiple pictures (zooms)

Uncle Sam

I guess they haven't much else to do with their free time.

Funny

POTUS is looking right into the teleprompter.

Most of the crowd is looking somewhere other than the stage such as the ground or looking into La-La Land.

very cool!!!

very cool!!!

Old photo

Saw this shortly after the it was taken. I believe this was his inauguration speech. Look closely, no gray hair. Great photo.

hey, there's one of our state reps

5 rows back sitting on the aisle behind the president. no kidding.

Also noticed among the many taking a nap was Clarence Thomas.

Samuel Alito looking at a UFO.

Dick Chaney doing his impersonation of Dr. Strangelove.

Across the aisle from Bill Clinton we can see POTUS family from Kenya.

Al Gore before being dumped by Tipper.

And last but not least couldn’t help to notice that the majority in this crowd are earning a six figure salary on the government dole, no wonder we are running a deficit.

NOTE: The panorama can be taken with any camera and a good zoom lens, for this shot they used the GigaPan system demostrated here.

Very impressive picture and technology.

As long..

As long as your doing what you're supposed to and not, then an innocent person has nothing to fear about, but fear itself.

Been looking

I spent the other night checking out my bathroom hoping to find a camera. I guess uncle same doesn't think I am worth it.

nap

Looks like Clarence Thomas was taking a nap during the event He's to the left of Obama.

is big bro watching?

What happened to our Democracy? Who are the people responsible for all this? What can we all do to stop and reverse all this?

What happened to our Democracy?

There is nothing in our constitution preventing the government from watching us. There is states rights that gives the states the rights not given to the federal government. The question here is what the government is using the data for?. This will be settled in the supreme court soon. At the present time we have a Bush Supreme Court.

Get used to it

Just a matter of time before any person can be tracked from their front door in the morning till they get back inside at night. Facial recognition, license plate recognition, and stuff I cant even imagine yet.

Well, there is the Fourth Amendment. You can debate it but it's there. It also limits States rights. So "Nothing" is not a correct statement.

When I first saw this post I was torn between the comments. I finally realized my problem - it was how the comments were interpreted.

Some background - Flaco started this thread with these comments:

flaco wrote:

So, if what kurzemnieks meant was that there was nothing in the Constitution to constrain the government for using such a camera to watch us, then I agree with that statement.

The Fourth amendment text says:

Quote:

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Many people paraphrase this as a "right to privacy" and freedom from unreasonable search and seizure. However, the Supreme Court has ruled that the Fourth Amendment's protections apply only when the searched party has a "reasonable expectation of privacy". This has been interpreted to mean that a person in a public place does not have the same right to privacy that he would have in his home or, perhaps, vehicle.

So jale is correct that the Fourth Amendment does put constraints on what the government can do in "watching" us. It could not sneak into our house and install a camera without a warrant. However, there does not appear to be any constraint on the camera in a public place referenced in the OP.

"You can't get there from here"

Is Big Bro Watching?

Don't worry about the government watching every move you make. Everyone knows that the world is going to end just before Christmas next year!

It goes much deeper...

I'm reading here about the real concerns of people about our government tracking all of us. But, if you look at it a bit more, you will see that it is not really the government doing this, but who is actually controlling the government. Big business is the answer, and we the people, have allowed this to happen to ourselves. I don't care which side of the aisle you like, neither side is benefiting from what is happening now. Over the past 20-30 years, slowly, methodically, big business has gained control of the hearts and minds of our politicians and we have let them do it. It is time to get money out of our politics, period. Again, I contend that it doesn't matter which side you are on, we all are losing. Take the recent defense spending bill passed. It seems that it contains an item that now allows US citizens to be detained indefinitely, without any legal recourse. All in the name of "National Security". Huh?? How have we allowed this to happen to ourselves? You see, as long as we keep bickering amongst ourselves, these types of things will continue to happen. It doesn't know a side (right, left, conservative, liberal, etc.) because they that are doing it are only interested in controlling the masses and getting richer, and as long as we sit here and bicker, they will continue to laugh and gain even more power. I just saw a video that sums up what is really what is wrong with our country, and I'm going to post it here if I can. Pay attention to what this gentleman has to say, and the reactions of those who are content to bicker with each other. I do apologize for the swear in the title, but there is no bad language in the video itself. Hopefully this will be allowed to stay, as it is NOT a political argument as there is plenty to go around...

Amen to that, brother!

many small brothers have bigger eyes.

If you think there are too many cameras in the US, you ain't seen nothing yet.

Many more so called "democratic countries" in Europe and Asia have even more cameras that can see you any time and any where just by simply step out of door. And that is assuming you don't have cameras inside your house.

I can watch you

While trying to figure out how to make smoke big enough to come out of my 5 foot 9 inch RC model of the riverboat Delta Queen, I have taken a break and looked into these posts.
I find that this is not new technology but a further step in the old. This reminds me of a program I saw several years ago where when loaded would have two eyes following your cursor all over the screen. On the internet it was called "The FBI IS WATCHING YOU". The improvement is that the camera used is a gigapixel one (which is way beyond my cash flow) and the eyes are replaced with image magnification. I think I will start saving up for the Terabyte pixel camera when it comes out.
Recently in the news was a fraction of the Wall Street Protesters were to protest a new plant in Cedar Rapids Iowa that was going to manufacture drones for the police departments.
http://www.desmoinesregister.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2...
I guess the police will have another weapon to use.
I think their protest was wrong because one is not guaranteed privacy in public places and the protests should have originally started in every establishment with surveillance cameras.
When driving through DSM on I235 please wave to all the cameras for I have an app that lets me watch you drive from one end to the other and I might wave back.

Not out of your price range...
