How to revert back to 2012.10 map

I have a new 2450LM and am a little nervous about updating to the new 2012.20 map. Reading so many posts here of people losing Junction View files from previous map, I am reluctant to update.

Does anyone know how to get the older version back if I am not statsified with the newer version? I would appreciate any help before I update. Thanks.

Make a backup

Connect your Nuvi 2450LM to your PC/MAC and make a complete backup. Once you update there are files that will be updated.
1) Maps (gmapprom.img)
2) Junction Views (.system/JCV/D*)
3) 3D Bldgs (gmap3d.img)
4) Voice recognition files (ASR directory)
5) Traffic Trend DB files (*.db)

So if you think the newer version messed up something, just copy back the relevant files from your backup.

The other thing you can do...

Is to always download the new maps to your PC/Mac and then use the Map Installer to load them onto your device. Using this method you can go back to whichever map you like.

Mapinstaller Question

Does Mapinstaller load the JV file also?

No

Sadly not. JV is only installed to a JV-compatible GPS via the Garmin installation procedure.
