Can someone give me an idea on which Garmin unit to buy. We are taking a trip in about a month and I would like to get another Garmin (or other) but there are so many out there, what do you all reccommend????
Route Changes
My 660 will only take start to finish with a waypoint in between. I just add one as I go if needed. I usualy don't worry about in between to much.

the skinny on routes
I own a Nuvi 260 with no routes and only one waypoint, when we went from Tampa Florida to Fairbanks Alaska with stop overs in VA and MI we wished the unit had routes so we could just built one and force the unit to follow the way.
With the camper we stayed mostly at Air Force Bases Family Camps and a unit with routes would have made the trip easier instead of often having to go paper map while under way and missing shortcuts that could have been pre-planned in a route.
If your needs are to go from point A to point B and maybe one stop in between then a simpler less expensive unit maybe all you need.

I'm confused. Why would you have to resort to paper maps? Why not just change your destination on the gps?
