3790T randomly freezes.

Over the past few months, my 3790T randomly froze several times. Usually it occurs in the middle of calculating a route. Once it froze, I could not even shut it down becaue the the touchscreen became unresponsive. What I did was hold down the power button for a very long time. Eventually it did shut down. When I restarted it, it seems to work again.

Anyone else has had similar experiences? I have verified that I have the lastest firmware installed via Garmin Updater.

Hey,
The same thing has happened with my week old 3790LMT. It froze once last week and just last night as I was driving from Northeast PA to Long Beach, NY through Manhattan. I pressed the power button for many seconds each time with no change. Holding it down for about 30 seconds caused it to finally turn off. When I started it again, it rediscovered my custom POIs on the memory card and asked if it should load them. It did retain the destination I was heading to and continued.
I have the latest firmware since I did any updates upon purchase.

I have not had this happen but there are software updates all the time for the 3790LMT.

Thanks for your reply. I am relieved to know I am not the only one experiencing this problem. I wish there is a fix for it though.

I already have the latest firmware update. This might not be a widespread problem. Garmin might not even be aware it.

Not I

You might as well be the only one....LOL (just kidding) Only kb2psm replied to having the same issue.
There are lots of us with this unit. I for one, do not have this issue.

No Freezes Here

I’ve used this gps for three months and never had freezes. I’ve had Reboots once in a while but very seldom. Also I personally like software version 4.0 best that is until Garmin hopefully updates there software and fix there split screen JV problem in landscape mode.
