I have a database of all US AM/FM station towers that are geo coded. If you supply the call letters for the talk radio stations i.e. in the form: XXXX-FM or XXXX-AM, I can turn around the .csv file immediately.

Uploaded file on Talk Radio

Actually, I had a few minutes and created a file. There are two categories listed on the website: Talk, and News/Talk. The file I am uploading contains only those stations listed under TALK. There are about 500 stations. Not sure what the News/Talk category is, so I did not include it. BTW, there are about 750 stations listed in that category.

thanks for Talk Radio

That is wonderful. It seems like the NEWS/TALK is a similar catagory. Our local TALK radio station WPGH Pittsburgh 104.7FM is listed only under the NEWS/TALK search.

Thanks for your making that POI file.

procedure

Can you explain the procedure of extracting these listings? I have the General File that you listed earlier with the AM/FM listings. When the search catagories are up like NEWS/TALK, how do you extract them into a CVS fle? I would like to help in the effort.

Actually, those files are the output from a FileMaker Pro database I have setup. There are two linked files, one with the station information and another with two fields, station name (callsign-am or callsign-fm) and the genre (talk, country, etc.). My process is to input the data into the second file and I have a script where I find based on the genre and a .csv file is output.
This allows for a station to be listed under more than one category, i.e. Jazz and Talk, etc. Based on my finds so far, many stations are listed under several categories.

If you can do the find on News/Talk and copy all of the station data (pasting into EXCEl vertically, i.e. if there are 730 stations, there should be 730 lines of data), I will take the EXCEL file, extract the necessary info, and run it through my database for you. Since the website only shows data for 20 at a time, that means a lot of copy and paste, but it goes quickly.

NEWS TALK Radio

So you need for me to send an EXCEL file that has the station call letters only in a verticle listing? Also, how do I get this file to you?

I am looking forward to this, thanks.

Send to my email address: mkahn@austin.rr.com
Either send me the excel file that has all of the data you copy or a vertical file that has the station call letters and whether they are am or fm.

Vertical listing is correct.
