Garmin: nuvi 13xx and 14xx series (GCD) Version 5.30

Apparently was released sometime yesterday.

Changes made from version 5.20 to 5.30:

*Fixed an error that caused some third-party maps to draw incorrectly.

The issue with favorites being rendered as black dots still has not been fixed.

EDIT: According to sussamb on GPSPassion.com (Source) Garmin is working on the issue.

Thank you for contacting Garmin International. The issue with your favorites icons not showing up is an issue we are aware of and are working on fixing. Once a fix comes out, there should be another software update that will fix the icons not showing up.

I don't know of an exact time frame for this, but I know this is high-priority issue that is being worked on, so hopefully there will be a fix soon on this.

Region File

NOTE FOR USERS WANTING TO DOWNLOAD SOFTWARE ON ONE COMPUTER AND THEN INSTALL IT TO THEIR
DEVICE USING A DIFFERENT COMPUTER:

1) To download the region file used by WebUpdater, copy and paste this link into your browser
on computer #1:

http://www.garmin.com/software/nuvi13xxand14xxseries_GCDFile...

2) Bring nuvi13xxand14xxseries_GCDFile__530.gcd to computer #2 where your device is attached.

3a) Then you can drag-and-drop nuvi13xxand14xxseries_GCDFile__530.gcd onto the WebUpdater icon on your desktop.

3b) Or you can invoke WebUpdater at the command line, passing in the region file as a parameter:

C:\>WebUpdater.exe c:\path\to\nuvi13xxand14xxseries_GCDFile__530.gcd

I updated yesterday through "Dashboard" on "MyGarmin" web. I thought I was just doing another repeat of what I had, until I saw this post....

I've updated my unit and so far haven't noticed any problems. I hope they fix the favorites rendering issue with next update.

It's fortunate the update came along, because I needed to test whether certain changes I made to my 1300LM remained after a firmware update. They did.

The latest updates screwed my display

I hadn't updated since 5.00, so I figured I might as well do this update.

Once it was finished, my Waypoint Symbols no longer show up on the map. All my waypoints now show up as little dots, not the nice big flags I have been using for years.

I found version 5.00 on the web and using the info in this thread, I drug the gcd file on top of the WebUpdater, and Viola! It worked perfectly and I have my Waypoint Symbols back.

I won't be upgrading for awhile, until they can fix this issue.

Unless it is only happening to me. Does anyone else use Waypoint Symbols, and are they still there after 5.30?

The Favorites do the same

The Favorites do the same thing as the Waypoint Symbols, in that they show up as a black dot. Therefore, logically they have the same cause within the current firmware: a bug. If it's important to have these symbols or the Favorites icons, downgrade to 5.00 until Garmin fixes the problem.
