Here's when we 855 owners are reminded that the model's been discontinued:
Just note that some 855 owners--me, for instance--have an 855 that suffers from repeated near-random reboots when in use. Still, for $85...
Woot's shipping is not especially speedy but if you're open to waiting a bit, I've never had a problem with Woot.

Taking a risk
I bought one at the price. I've read of the many problems, but also read that the refurbs seem to be fine. Whatever they do must solve the main problems. Friend of mine bought one recently and he thinks it's great. Not any problems in over two months.
Thought I'd give it a shot. 1 yr warranty. #85. Not too big a risk. Haven't received yet. They ship within 5 bdays and fedx mail takes some time. Due at house on 20th. I'll update if problems.

I have an 855 - at the beginning, had 2 freeze ups. After a software update, has operated perfect ever since - and I got one early in the cycle. Works great for me and I have had no further issues - and don't leave home without it.

On the other hand, I've had a mostly positive experience with my 855. I can't find any newer models that have mp3 capability and voice commands, which are very important to me. Software upgrades have cured issues with rebooting, at least for mine.
Amazon was selling these new for $99 during a promotion in September.
