1300LM Favorite's Categories

Talking with a friend via email right now that has a 1300LM. It doesn't display any categories under his Favorites. He an attempt to fix it he did his updates and did a hard reset and still can't get it to display any categories under Favorites. It goes directly to the saved locations when he taps Favorites.
Any thoughts I can pass along?
Try
Do a Where to, pick a favorite, edit it and then assign a category to it.

You must have at least 12 waypoints saved in your Favorites before the categories will be shown.

It won't let him enter a new category
How strange is that?
When he edits a category on a saved favorite it reads coordinates. He says he can not add a new category. I just asked him to try again.

You must have at least 12 waypoints saved in your Favorites before the categories will be shown.
You got to be kidding me! We were trying to get his categories working before he put all his saved locations in so he could put them in their categories as he goes.

It works the other way around. Faves first, Categories next.

No some of the newer models
No some of the newer models has that 12 number for favorites.Another user had same problem.I went back to Garmin support to verify the 12 number.

I asked him if has at least 12 people he likes to put in his unit to start with!

As long as it is 12
As long as it is 12 favorites.After that you are good to go.A faster way may be to use EPE put the 12 in with the category using EPE then send them back as favorites.

I would if I could
It is a friend's GPS and I am working with him over email. I saw him real quick earlier this morning and gave him some POIs for a weekend motorcycle trip coming up for his new GPS. That's when I noticed he had no categories.
He will work on getting 12 in there and we will go from there. He is actually doing pretty good on the GPS for a guy that's not sure what end of the computer to type on.
