How do I get Micro SD card out of Garmin 1490T?

The card went in. Shows up on the computer as a drive. But I cannot get the card back out of the Garmin. I push on the side of the card and it just stays in. Nothing to grab to pull out. What do I do to get the card out?

I have a 1450 and have found that at times.....I have to use a 'tool' aka paperclip to REALLY push in on the SD card to get it to 'unlatch' and come out. My fingernails (well groomed and trimmed) LOL LOL LOL just don't make it. Try to depress it fully with something, NOT A PENCIL.......too much risk of the lead tip breaking off and landing in there. Good Luck !

It is pushed in as far as

It is pushed in as far as possible and still does not come out. This is not good...

I managed to get a hold of it with the edge of my nail and slide it out. Is it supposed to be like this or is there something wrong with the unit?

Clicks?

There should be a slight "click" when you push it in and out. A spring in the mechanism should push the card out when you push in on the card. If it does not, check the slot to see it there is something stuck in there - sometimes a little dust ball or something like that - that is stopping the smooth insert & removal.

If the above doesn't work, I would call Garmin to see if they know what is going on with your unit.

Good luck!

I have a 1490T

You have to push in and let go as it is as someone stated on some kind of spring. Works ok on mine...push in and let go quickily...

I gave a good blow into the slot and it seems the card seems to spring out better now. Hopefully this has fixed it. Thanks!

Good that your SD card is working!

Glad you were able to work things out. I have the same model as you. Just push it in until it clicks and it should spring out about halfway.

I have an 8 gig SD card in mine and it works great, especially for backups.

Garmin Drive 61, nuvi 2597MT, too many really.

LOL

LOL, as I had my 1490 for almost a year and always complained that the microSD card was never recognized by the Nuvi or Windows. One day I realized I was putting it in the slot backwards. Don't ever get old grin

This is not a micro SD card

It's an SD card. The micro SD's are the ones for cell phones.

If so, please accept my apologies!

It says micro SD and microSDHC on the adapter.

Some Nuvi models do use microSD cards instead of SD.

4GB for $33? Ouch! We can get an 8GB for half that price elsewhere.

I had the same problem, too! I finally figured out that my finger was too fat to be able to push it in far enough to let it pop out. I had to use my pinkey finger nail to make it work! Go figure!

My 885t uses the micro sd, where I can store all of my music and e-book files in mp3 format.
Works great through the speakers in my vehicle by using the auxiliary port.

Thanks!

Thanks for the corrections on my statement.

On the 37xx series I could see it, as they're so slim. The regular SD is recessed, and is easy to get at. But, a micro in my 775T would be downright annoying I'd think.

A small flat head screw

A small flat head screw driver will allow you to depress the card inward for removal.

Prices of the micro SDHC cards has declined significantly this past year. More capacious ones will be available next year. The limit is the device compatibility.

Fred

It can be hard to get out

I have to use a small screwdriver or a paperclip to push in on the card so it pops out.

Micro SD Card

It's a micro SD card. The 1390's use them as well.

Micro SD Card

I don't have a problem with mine. I don't have much finger nails. Guess I'm just lucky.

MicroSD Card

My Garmin works just fine, but it always "fly" out with just slight push down. The spring is mighty strong.
