885 Battery

My battery Icon only shows 3 bars and never goes more than that. I pressed the bat icon till the specs came up and it only shows 68% charge. Is my battery starting to go. Is there another way to test the battery?

Test the battery

You might try leaving the unit turned on until it shuts down because of a low battery. Then put it on charge and leave it until the battery if fully charged, 4 hours should do it. That will recalibrate the battery fuel gauge.

Keep in mind

Keep in mind that most GPS units will not operate when "just" plugged in after being fully discharged. They will need a far amount of charging before use.

.

Also note that the 8x0/8x5 series do not fully shut off when you use the power switch but instead go into a reduced-power standby mode. This will deplete/run down the battery even when the unit is not being used. The only way to fully power off the unit is to physically remove the battery.
