Not all POI's showing

I think this question has been asked, and answered before..but I can't find it in the FAQ..
I've downloaded several POI's on my 765t..but not all of them show when I'm going through the list..if I search for something in particular..it will bring it up..say if I downloaded "Family Diners" that has 30 places..only 15 will be listed, but if I know what place I want that doesn't show..it will bring it up...what am I doing wrong?

Not all show

Garmin only shows those that are closest to the current or last position of the unit unless you search near another location. This is done to shorten the search time and unload some work from the unit processor.

Usually you get the nearest 50 or so, and those are sorted by the straight line distance, not road. A location may be only a couple of miles away by air, but many miles by road when you have to drive around a body of water.

Procedure

I assume you downloaded a POI file and ran POILoader to put it on the 765.

The way I might go about locating a particular POI is to touch Where To? > down arrow (to get to the next screen) > Extras > Custom POIs.

At this point, I see a list whose top entry is "All Categories" followed by the name of the "folder(s)" or POI file(s).

When I select one of the "categories" one of two things happen.
(1) If what I selected was a "file" name, the 765 will start looking for individual pois closest to where the 765 thinks it currently is.
(2) If what I selected was a "folder" name, then the 765 will show me the "files" within that folder and when I select a file the action of (1) happens.

I could have taken the option when the screen whose first entry was "All Cetegories" to touch the "Spell" button and find my desired destination that way.

I wasn't sure of your problem but I hope this helps.

some listed are

two thousand miles away..I'm just reviewing what I have loaded on here..and was curious as to why not all the files were visible..I don't know if I'm making sense..or just confusing everyone..LOL..but I think I understand what your saying...I'll try looking to see if they come up by searching "near a location"...Thank you!

Yes..I used POI Loader

I found where they are located on the 765t under "custom POI" the folders and files are there..but say in my "Family Diners" folder, where I downloaded it on my computer I open it up and there are 50 places in there..but when I open the folder name in the Garmin..there are only 25..I just wasn't sure if there was a limit as to how many files the Garmin could hold ?

How many files

It can hold about a gazillion locations. I don't have any issues with the POI files I load from POI Factory.

When you go to Extras,Custom Pois are you touching all categories? If yes that will show combination of all the pois on the gps of 50 closest to you.If you touch Faily Diners it will show the 50 diners near you.
