Soon

A sign that 2011.30 is released:

Dorkus Nimrod will come down from the mountain, and with his finger will etch in stone, "2011.30 is now". Soon after, many of the faithful will wail, "my road has not been updated". Weeks after that, there will be those that ask the question, "when will 2011.40 be upon us?"

Oh, and another way to know when it is released, look on the right side of this page under Active Forum Topics. You'll soon see it there, probably over the next week.

Larry

It will happen Nov 28th

Because my 295W free update expires Nov 27, 2010

When Papa?

Papa are we there yet?
Papa When will Streets & Trips 2011 be out?

But I want to know yesterday.

Ever notice how many of the things we can't wait for lose their importance once they are here?

I had an update on my Nuvi 855

I connected my Nuvi 855 and the Dashboard at my.garmin.com said I had an update. Got all excited thinking it was the 2011.30 update, however when it finished downloading, it was only the 2011.20 update. It is strange because I had updated my Nuvi 855 with 2011.20 couple of months ago. The downloaded file was different this time. It was called "garminmapupdater_naeu_g.exe" while the one I had downloaded 2 months ago was called "garminmapupdater_naeu_a.exe". I have no idea what has changed in this new update.

Garmin could be more upfront about release dates.

They could let us know in advance when they are due to be released.

I didn't think anyone was impolite. People answered the question and then added some levity. I didn't see any rudeness.

.

So, lets all get real impolite, just to see what 'Mr. Thin Skin's' reaction will be!!!

Besides, it isn't as if for most people the UPDATE (it certainly isn't an 'upgrade') will have any detectable changes in it. I run 2 year old mapping in my car and my loaner (an old SP3) has 4 year old maps. No one ever gets lost with either of them.

Chill.

Impolite?

JanJ wrote:

It was not my intention to be impolite or rude. I was only making the comment that I, like most of us, have a childlike nature deep inside. I want the new map and Streets and Trips 2011 also.

The adult part of me also knows that when I get what I want, it will have lost it's charm.

Many times, what we say tells more about us than the other person.

My apologies if I offended you.

Impolite? You want impolite

I'll give you impolite ....

Patience my a$$, I'm wanna kill something .... (Ok, that was a poster I had in college years ago) ...

But I gotta tell you, I'm getting pretty impatient.

I just checked 4:35 p.m. (central time) Nov 1 and no update yet ... by my calculations, my quarterly lifetime update is overdue.

Not that I care ... I just wanna be one of the first to load the new maps. Why the first? I dunno. Just want to be the one of the first.

Live dangerously. Hey, I'm addicted. I just hate logging on here and finding out that there was a new Walmart file uploaded yesterday and I'm a day behind. And I get really nasty (just ask my wife) if I don't update my Garmin on the date the new map update is released.

You want impolite? If the map update gets released, I hope I'm in the "queue" before you.

So there

Garmin 205, 260W, 1450LMT, 2460LMT, HEREwego for iPhone ... all still mapping strong.

Maybe Miss POI

Hey, since Garmin consistantly fails to notify us when a new map update is released ... maybe we could sweet-talk Miss POI into sending out a blanket email to all of us when Dorkus Nimrod posts the update is available. It would cut down her bandwidth if all of us didn't have to keep checking back here hourly to see if he posted anything. Just a thought.

Sorry guys, I don't have a setup that will do that.

Miss POI

They are not very

They are not very forthcoming with info when they have new releases, I've seen that complaint before. I got by for 3 years with old maps, so a few weeks won't kill me I guess.

New maps

Is there a way to see if a change was made to the new map before I purchase it?

I just took it wrong way....

I just took it wrong way.... Don't let it ruin your day....

I must have put myself on the Mailing list at Garmin 4 times, and I never get an answer.... Maybe it's them I'm ticked about.

Actually I read the (referred to) other thread that seemed to go silent.... and I didn't know if it had happened or not....
Because I don't get the Email about new firmware that I've signed up for 4 times at the Garmin site (every time I download maps, there is: the link to be put on email list for new Map Updates... And I never get any emails.... I refer to this site for that info.... And since the other thread fell silent... That's why I posted.... Maybe an indication here on the main page when it finally is released?????

Lincoln

Same day the Lincoln Dollar's are released to circulation. Sadly, it is the day before I leave on a road trip to Toronto so I doubt I will get a chance do the update before I leave.

Sadly?

You should NEVER update a piece of 'critical' equipment immediately before an event that depends on it - besides, what do you figure the likelihood of you needing to go to any newly added street is likely to be?

Enjoy the trip and update the map when you get home.

Go to: https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=1456&pvID=30132&ra=t...

Click on the map, and a popup will show the current map which is 2011.20 at the present. When the new map is available, presumably 2011.30, this map will be updated, it is zoomable so you can see if a specific area you a familiar with has been updated.
