Lost all favorites - need help

Hi,

I just updated by 1370T without reading what it did. Now I find all my favorites are gone. Is there any way to recover them. I just found out that I could have backed them up. Is it too late?

Thanks.

Sorry - I can't think of a way to do it without a back up.
Do one on a regular basis and you will be ahead of the game next time.

Thanks. I guess I learned the hard way. I really didn't know you could back up the favorites and I thought this was a bit insecure. Guess I should have looked into it a bit further.

Good idea to back up the complete file system for your gps.It may come in handy one day. When doing any updates for the unit you never know what may happen.

I make my own POI file called My Favorites and keep it on my memory card with all of my other files. That way it won't get lost and it is easily updated whenever necessary and easily accessible through Extras.

Sounds like a lot of work - and then the POIs don't show up as 'my favorites'. Not to mention that you can't create them on the fly as custom POIs . . . .

It is VERY simple to just receive your waypoints using Mapsource and then save the resulting file on a PC and memory stick.

If you have the room, you'd be best off also copying the entire file system from the navigator to those locations once as well after each firmware update - serves as a complete backup.

That way, if you lose your favorites because of a failure or during an update you just send them back to the device.

Do the 'receive & save' as soon as possible after any session where you've added a waypoint and you'll be safe for the forseeable future because the resultant .gdb (or .gpx) file is Garmin device independent.
