1490T for $179.99

Thanks...saw it too...

and it made me cringe that I paid $290 more for it at one time. But--it has been used with so much regularity since that I wouldn't have wanted to be without it regardless of the lowered price.

With a $30 coupon, you can get it below $150.

How well does the "T" really work?

Just wondering if the traffic control works well enough, often enough to be useful.

Wow

I think I paid 3 times that when I bought mine last year.

???

Where can I get the coupon?

Wonder how low they will go

I thought I got a good deal at $218 on amazon but you found a much better price and the lowest I have seen in 4 months of monitoring. If it is a new unit and not a factory refurbish it is a great deal.

They were $219 just a week or so ago at my Socal Costco.

forget it

Assuming Staples would take the coupon on top of the heavily discounted 1490T, according to the website E-Junkie the coupon was good until 10/10/2010

I saw that Costco online has the 1490T with lifetime maps for $249.99. That seems like a pretty good deal plus you are buying it from Costco....

Amazon must have been checking the COSTCO price, because that is what I just paid for it (with the life time maps) at Amazon last week.

I just noticed that this week (10-13-10) the price at Amazon is back to $279.

Ordered from Costco

I ordered a 1450 from Amazon. It arrived yesterday with an open box and no life time maps card. Had it about 4 hours and it was on it's way back. No one could resolve the problem. Enough of Amazon!

I ordered the 1490 from Costco last night.

I bought 1490T at Crutfield a month ago $220 including tax and

lifetime map combo. The total price including everything is around $240 but after search for diccount coupon on the net for $20 less.

refurb

I got a refurbed one from Newegg or JR with a $50 Uverse promotional visa card used in conjunction with a credit card. Funny thing is, I don't see either in my account history at either site.

When I originally purchased the item, I had to call CS to combine a gift card and a credit card purchase for around $160. I THINK I had to buy a Newegg giftcard with the Uverse credit and then pay the rest with a credit card.

Anyway, the thing has worked very well. It froze a couple of times, but since the latest firmware update, it's worked flawlessly.

I recently used up the last of my BING cash to buy the lifetime maps for a little over $70. It was very user unfriendly to install, but I got it after a few choice cusswords. I hope this lifetime maps continues to update without going through the initial registration of the maps card every time.

New 1490T with Lifetime maps for $179.99 at Amazon

Would a new 1490T with NuMaps Lifetime Maps for $179.99 be a good price for Cyber-Monday?

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003HB6BIE/

I've got to replace my recently stolen unit. Although I still love my good old Nuvi 350 it just can't match the very fast satellite acquisition and super bright and clear screen of the 1490T.

go for it

That is a GREAT price w/lifetime maps. I paid $179 w/o maps last month. On Friday Staples had the 1490T w/o lifetime for $169. So, jump on it. I just called a niece. She will order one also.

Any Issues With The 1490T?

I've been looking at getting a newer unit. I've been looking at the 1490. Read some reviews and looks like some folks have had some issues with lockups and slow satellite acquisition. Has the newer firmware updates fixed the problems?

At these prices, it's looking more attractive.

OK.....so where the heck am I?

No problems...

I have had one for around 4 months and have not had any of the issues you state...in fact have had no issues as of yet. I only use it a couple of times a month so I may not see the problems associated with the 1490.

As you are looking to go from a 255, have you thought about either the 7 or 8 series? These at least retain the audio out jack if you pipe the sound through the car speakers.
