All the revenue disagreements between Nassau County, the villages, and the state, must have been solved. We haven't heard anything about it - they have kept it secret.

The original plan called for no red light cameras at intersections with state roads because the county did not want to share revenue with the state. Now there are very many cameras on state roads. So in Massapequa Park it must be the same.

The motivation to solve these revenue-sharing problems must be that the pot of gold is so big they can't offord not to share it. Can you imagine the profit involved at Sunrise Highway and Unqua Road?

In Suffolk the legislature is fighting over how much revenue they can get and how quickly. They plan to balance a deficit budget with this money.

It is now clear that this is little about safety and a lot about BIG money!

This has been reported to Miss Poi

The coordinates of this camera have already been reported to Miss Poi.

Are those funky things RLCs?

I reported them some time ago asking what the heck they were. No one replied.... They don't appear to be anything like the rest of the cameras spread throughout the county.

Not a red light camera?

Maybe I'll drive down and take a look. There is no reason this one should be different unless it is not a RLC.

New Equipment is there

Camerabob, at Sunrise Highway and Unqua Road whatever was there before is gone. A new standard Nassau County installation has been done.

The cameras still have their factory wrapping, so they're not in service yet. We'll let the report to Miss Poi stand, because it should be active shortly.

The two cameras face east and west on Sunrise. We should take another look in several weeks to see if they also install north and south cameras on Unqua Road.

I was there midday Saturday and there were solid traffic jams three lanes in each direction - a gold mine for the county.

Previously..

there were four implements placed on top of the signal light beams (poles?) facing in each travel direction... Perhaps they were monitoring the intersection for future deployment....

Warning signs?

I don't suppose they installed those nice signs warning of traffic light camera enforcement like they had for thr first round of Nassau County RLC's that have since been removed.
