Reverse video red alert

I'm thinking I've seen images of a nuvi with a top line reverse red video custom POI alert.
Can any nuvi do this? My alerts are black rectangles in the top half of the screen with hard to read letters.
If so, I haven't seen this process spelled out so I can learn how to make my 1690 do this.

The nuvi 350 alerted with the red top line. The new units do not. For new units with mp3 players, you can select the grey alert banner for full screen alert information.

Nuvi 2x0 and 2x0W units have the red top bar for alerts. I would presume that all 2x5 and 2x5W units have it as well, because the unit I got for my roommate is a 2x5W unit and has it.
Garmin Mobile XT does not. It has a black text bubble.

760 has red and gray
The 760 displays the basic alerts with a dark gray bar. The speed alerts show as a red bar directly below the gray bar.

Sounds like the alert colors may be controlled by the unit moreso than by any custom codes.

Alerts with a very small rectangular box. very hard to see.

Garmin changed the on-screen POI alerts on the newer units which now show a small grey alert "bubble" for standard alerts. This was previously a large red alert text box at the top of the screen which was easy to see and read. The new alert is now small and hard to read, especially on the 37xx series.
