That's the lamest explanation ever. That speed is dangerous in any public road, I don't care what car he's driving rolleyes

Of course, they used to say that for everything faster than a horse carriage....

Now that's a cool looking police cruiser... can we call that a "cruiser" ? it is more like an "interceptor" razz

I wouldn't mind seeing it in action, but not in my rear view mirror.

Awesome car! This is even more scary:
http://www.ronpatrickstuff.com/

I for one don't want to see that car behind me. My good old honda may not have enough time to get out of the way grin

At Least 100 mph too Fast

No way anybody needs to drive that fast. And talk about fast, I did have the opportunity to sit in a new Honda Smart (3 cylinders). The top speed on the speedometer is 100mph! Bet it won't make 60.

Memory hints me there was a piece on that car recently here in Europe, and they actually crashed that "space cruiser"...

I Belgium, we used to have Porsche 911 and Golf GTI on the highway, as well as a few civilian-looking cars. They were fast. And in France we now have the Subaru WRC - the racing model !

Nearly all cars won't hit

Nearly all cars won't hit those speeds even in free fall!

Essentially, they're confiscating the car with a fine that large. If it's more expensive they are expecting him to cut it down the middle.

That is true: http://www.wreckedexotics.com/articles/046.shtml

This article seems to imply that there was more than one of these Lambos, but I don't think that is the case. I could be wrong; I can always be wrong.

speeds

I just have no idea if they mean in the same country or not.

BTW, there are other sections than in Germany that are not speed controlled per se - just based on conditions, minimum distances between vehicles, etc. If you've not been on the Autobahnen, please believe that the traffic regulations are quite quickly enforced, even during "unlimited speed" sections. Do silly things and expect stupid large fines, and loss of your right to drive and rental agreement as a foreigner (did not happen to me, just letting you know)

Sadly, much of the unlimited speed is going away on the Italian Autostrada sad I'm all for appropriate sections having no exact limit, except for road and visibility, etc. conditions at the time, as well as nailing folks who are carelessly / imprudently driving (tailgating at 145 mph is pretty ugly!)

Unfortunate...

It is unfortunate, but most traffic laws wouldn't be needed (except to collect money) if people exercised common sense. You always see the overturned SUV during winter storms, on the side of the road... why? I've been driving SUVs for the past 16 years and they only mean 1 thing: you won't get stuck in the snow. You have to be more careful since you can go faster than everyone else and 4x4 doesn't mean squat when it comes to stopping on ice.

There is always someone trying to go faster than everyone else during rain, people who drive with the lights off when there is heavy fog/rain, people on the phone, taking care of kids, reading a newspaper/map, etc. while driving. Common sense could get rid of so many accidents.

That's very true about 4X4s.

That's very true about 4X4s. You can't overcome the laws of physics. Black ice is black ice, I don't care what you are driving.

And sometimes if you don't watch it a 4 wheel drive means the tow truck driver just has to pull out more cable to get you back on the road.

As for me, with such speeds I'd recommend shooting them on sight. Don't they have kids, or don't they WANT any ?

I was stationed in Germany for a year and a half and I can tell you that when a car traveling at 150 miles an hour hits a deuce and a half traveling at 55MPH its not pretty.
