DEC operates 51 campgrounds located in the Adirondack and Catskill Parks. DEC campgrounds provide a wide variety of experiences, including island camping, tent and trailer camping, boat launching facilities, hiking trails, beaches and day use areas with picnic tables and grills. Fishing licenses are no longer being sold at any of our campground facilities.
State campgrounds outside the Forest Preserve are operated by the NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. For more information call (518) 474-0456.
Back country, or primitive camping, is permitted on most lands managed by DEC.
