TomTom EasyMenu - POI managment

Does anyone know if the new EasyMenu on the XL350 (or XXL550) has the capability to manage POI alerts and map display? I played around with an XL350 for a few minutes, and could not find it. The reason I ask is for the viability of using 3rd party speed/redlight camera POIs as I do now with my old One XL.

Most other functionality I would want seemed under Options. Unfortunately, despite the fact that they are available to purchase, TomTom doesn't seem to have the manuals for any of the x50 series on their site.

Thx. smile

Don't Know But..

I have a GO930, so I can't answer your question directly, but with my unit I cannot add any third party app to the Easy Menu. However, I can still add third-party POIs and access them using "Navigate to" or "Browse Map". Hope this helps.

Nice find

Unfortunately, the manual doesn't go into enough detail to determine whether or not alerts can be enabled. Thanks for the link, though!

I figured that I would be

I figured that I would be able to add the 3rd party POIs. Are you able to config a POI category to display on a map? Can you have the TomTom play an alert sound within x feet/yards/meters?

Thanks! smile

Try This:

To display a POI category:

Place the bmp icon along with the POI .ov2 file in your map directory (e.g., "North_America".
It will then come up as a POI you can
1) Select "Change Preferences" on the GPS unit
2) Select "Show POI on Map"
the new POI should be listed, put a check by the POI(s) you want to see.

To enable alerts:

1) Select "Change Preferences"
2) Select "Warn when near POI" (may be on a different submenu, on my GO930, it is under "Manage POIs")
3) Choose the POI category(ies) you want to set up for an alert; set distance & sound; leave *unchecked* the option to "warn only in route"

That sounds like what I do

That sounds like what I do (or at least very close) with my One XL which has the traditional 6 icon per page TomTom menu.

Does your 930 have the EasyMenu (similar to the TomTom Ease) with basically 2 buttons with a few options on the bottom? I thought (and certainly could be wrong) that none of the TomToms had the new EasyMenu until the Ease and the XL350 and XXL550 at this point.

See http://www.tomtom.com/products/product.php?ID=1110&Category=... for a pic.

I couldn't find any advanced options for managing POIs - just some simple options like add/delete.

Quick Menu

My GO930 does not have Easy Menu, but I think it is either called Quick Menu or Shortcut menu. It is a small icon on the main page that I can touch and can select up to six icons (commands).

POI Management

Even on the 920T, I'm able to add the POI files onto the map and have the alerts. It's based on what POI files that you select to alert/show on the maps. I have hundreds of POI files on the 920T, but some I do not want to show/alert unless I'm looking for one (ie: RestArea).

From what I can tell all of

From what I can tell all of the x40 and x30, the One and One XL, and probably a slew of others work pretty much the same way. The Ease and the x50 models (and maybe some others in the future) have TomTom's new "EasyMenu," and at least some functionality seems to have disappeared. The ability to set alerts for POIs seems to be one at this point, but I'm hoping that someone proves me wrong.
