out of warranty repairs

he was the one who said why garmin was doing what it was.problem is he is not taking any repairs in right now because of his backlog.must be good.

If a unit is over 2 years

old it is probably better to upgrade to a new unit and update your map at the same time. Just one's opinion.

Cost

Does anyone know what the average charge is for a repair? With the prices still dropping it maybe more cost effective just to buy a new GPS. Don't forget to figure in the cost of Lifetime maps if you have it on the broken unit before buying a new one.

Repair.

I would have to agree. Unless your unit has a lifetime map subscription, it would make more sense to replace a 6xx model nuvi instead of repairing it. Newegg has 765T refurb right now for $165 with free shipping.

frugal

according to his web page he does the antenna repair for 35.00 plus the cost of shipping . not too bad for a unit i paid over 300.00 for . not sure about the rest of the world ,retired, and 300.00 or even 165.00 is hard to come by.

very pleased

just received my nuvi 650 back from sharcnet-usa .what a pleasant experience from an online service. he informs you every step of the way of whats going on with your unit . my unit had the updating software screen when it shouldnt have and it was the flip up antenna causing the problem.i really believe it was well worth the repair cost (51.00 included ship back) to have a functioning unit again .i like the nuvi 650 so the repair cost vs buying new was a no brainer for me , but like i said nice guy to do business with. the repair included stiffing the on/off button on the unit too . seems some 650s have a problem with this.

His web site stated a couple of weeks ago that he was not accepting any new orders, but when I checked his site yesterday it didn't say anything about not taking new orders, so he must have worked through the backlog.

waiting

he did because i was checking everyday by clicking on quote and it would take me to the picture with all the gps piled on a desk and the white flag above . then 1 day last week it took me to the quote page and like i said the turn around time is outstanding to say the least .
