Wild guess here but it looks like the update did NOT complete successfully. Doing the same update again from the very beginning might solve the problem.

solution

i found the answer to my problem i think . a out of warranty repair person says its the antenna on the 650 not connected anymore . 35.00 repair that guy . i found a post by another on the poi factory site who says 55.00 .

Probably not related, but my StreetPilot c530 does same.

Not every time, but usually after some temperature change, when my c530 starts up, it will go into a routine where the screen says it is updating the software (percent countdown) and then finally starts up, with no satellite contact. The way to get it to start is to disconnect the power (unplug from the cigarette lighter) and then press the reset button. After that it works correctly. If I don't disconnect the power when I press the reset, it will not find satellites.
Since I am out of warranty, I just live with the problem. Probably happens about once a week or more.
