Summary: This is a list of Southern California museums with free days.

Details: Museums are great, but I haven't been to many where I felt the price to enter was justified by the contents inside. This especially is true if you bring along the young kids. Well, the museums in this POI are guaranteed to be worth the entry price if you attend when they are open free to the public. The two best are the California Science Center and the J. Paul Getty Museum at the Getty Center - always free, all the time, and world class museums to boot.

Much of this POI comes from Frommers Museums - Free Culture at http://www.frommers.com/destinations/losangeles/0014021097.h... There also was a Free Museum Days Guide at http://www.la.com/los_angeles-free-museum-days, but it appears that they no longer list the content.

To give geographic boundaries to this POI, it may contain any museum that is open free to the public at least one day of the week or month (or both) and located in one of the following Southern California counties:

South of the San Gabriel and San Bernardino mountains
Imperial
San Diego
Riverside
Ventura
Orange
Los Angeles
San Bernardino

North of the San Gabriel and San Bernardino mountains
Northern Los Angeles (Antelope Valley, Santa Clarita)
Northern San Bernardino (Mojave Desert)
Santa Barbara
San Luis Obispo
Kern
