new user - trying to download voices and custom icons

I have a Nuvi 255W. Was able to add custom POIs, but having a tough time loading the voices/icons from Garmin Garage. What is the process? Also looking for free map update for this unit. Does one exist? Also looking for voices other than the couple in the garage. How about making my own custom icons?

Voices/Icons
You just need to put the voices that you want, in the voices folder on your unit, or use webupdater and it will do it for you. Here is a discussion on custom Vehicle icons

You can go to My Garmin Page https://my.garmin.com/mygarmin/customers/myGarminHome.faces and it will get you to the map update.I was looking at the Garmin Garage voices and there was info on how to download both to computer and directly to the unit.What problem are you having with downloading?Other voices are available on the web but have not seen and good feedback on them.

Thank you, I'll try that. They didn't show up on the unit when I dragged and dropped them from their file location on the computer to the Nuvi.
