1690 white screen

 

I just bought 1690 and used approx 1.5 hrs. and now when I turn on, I get white screen. Any ideas? New to gps world.

no clue whatsoever. Did you try to do a hard reset?

I tried holding power button for 10 secs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The 1st 1690 I bought kinda

The 1st 1690 I bought kinda crapped out on me within 3 days (Nu-Link service quit working & the GPS unit was just slow & acting weird at times) & after returning it & getting another one....everything is fine.
I don't know what could have caused that but calling up Garmins CSC would be your best bet. Especially if the reset didn't work.

I needed to do hard reset

I needed to do hard reset and it involves holding the lower right hand part of the screen down and holding the power button on continuous till the initiation screen comes up. It might take 15-30 secs to do this. This will reset the unit to factory specs and dump all memory data.

I recommend that followed by a day of trial use with the 1690. If that doesn't work... return it to the store before the return period ends

I had the same thing happen

I had the same thing happen (like 6 feet) and have returned my third 2890 back to Best Buy. My issue was that the cell connected internet (traffic and Google) would stop working after standing still in a parking lot for more than 10 minutes. The only way I could refresh the internet was to shut the machine down and start fresh. Then the traffic would return. Garmin CSC says I am the first to have this issue....Sounds like I am not as evident of other posts (and the 3 units I had do this before
