Nuvi 755T screen issue.

Hi everyone,

I just bought a Nuvi 755T brand new from Costco.com. So far it works fine, except when pressing the keys on the screen, it is not accurate, and jumps to a different key. I have tried to calibrate the screen, but do not solve the problem. I searched the internet for this issue and found someone posted this problem originally in Jan. 2009 with their 755T, so my thought is Garmin have not correct this issue yet.

Has anyone here experiencing this issue with their 755T? It does not happen every time when pressing a key on the screen, but it happen very often once in a while. I have the latest software update version 3.8 and don't have any screen protector on this GPS.

Previously, I have the Nuvi 265WT and the touch screen works perfectly accurate all the time. Therefore I'm familiar of how the screen supposes to be functioning.

Thanks

there are many threads on this

You are not alone. Many others have reported the same problem. My suspicion is that if you call Garmin, the stock answer first offered will "We have not had any reports..."

But that's a guess on my part.

I've got a 755T that has the same issue. I think part of my problem is that I came from using an iPod Touch which has a very good touch screen. With Apples screen you just barely touch the letter and it registers, and does so correctly. With the Garmin I notice that you have to hold your finger a slight bit longer for it to register right. It's annoying but something that I got used to.

Wonder if the 780 has the same issue? I just ordered one as a gift....hope I didn't give a problematic model as a gift!

Nuvi 755T screen issue

I haven't had any problems with mine. (knock on wood)

Wouldn't worry

I wouldn't worry about it. The 7xx series is different than the 7x5 models in many ways. This hasn't been a problem with the 7xx models to the best of my knowledge.

You can buy cut-it-yourself screen protectors at just about any office supply or electronics retailer. Put one on your phone, one on your camera, etc.

I'm also having the same problem. I've been in contact with Garmin, they wanted my unit back but I never sent it. It is an annoying issue but I can deal with it.

me too, but with 765t

I have had the same exact issue with my 765t. Over time it has got better. The touch screen improved after I recalibrated the screen about 3 or 4 different times. The last software update a couple weeks ago has made it even more better.

I know, "more better"=bad english, but the update did make it even "more, better". grin

Unless you are the lead sled dog, the view never changes. I is retard... every day is Saturday! I still use the Garmin 3590 LMT even tho I upgraded to the Garmin 61 LMT. Bigger screen is not always better in my opinion.

Yes, Nuvi 765t has the same issue.

I see that these are old posts, but has the issue been resolved or is it more like isolated problems?

Fixed

The problem was fixed in firmware version 4.00. Garmin also took that opportunity to break the Garmin Language Guide to which there has not yet been a fix. :/

I support the right to keep and arm bears.

Try

Try a screen calibration. I have a 755T and discovered by accident that if the power switch is in the lock position when I put it in the power cradle it starts a calibration. Garmin also provides the following directions:

Start with the unit powered OFF and unplugged from power supply.

Press and hold your finger anywhere on the touch screen.

Next, slide the power switch to the ON position and then immediately slide it into the Lock position. (There is no need to wait for the screen to flash on or show the Garmin logo before moving the switch into the Lock position.)

Leave your finger on the screen for about 45 seconds.
Two intersecting lines should display on the screen along with the message: Press Dot.

I thought that newer firm ware solved any issues. Also thanks for the tip on doing the screen calibration.
