c340 Mount Stuck

I find myself taking my c340 mount on and off daily because I have read several people having issues with the suction cup getting stuck to the windshield. Well today this happen to me. For the 1st time I left it on for about a week ( My car is Garage keep )and low and behold, I had a time getting the Suction Cup to release from the windshield. Eventually I got it to release but by that time a lot of the Black suction cup residue was peeled off and stuck to my windshield. I called Garmin and they stated that they are aware of this issue and have redesigned the suction cup with a new material. They then said they were going to send me another for free.

Has anyone else had this Black suction cup residue peel off onto their windshield?

I have the opposite problem..

My C340 will stay on the windshield for the first five minutes, then drops to the dashboard.

Now I suction it as low as I can then prop it up with my wallet, so if it does fall, I can still see it.

I may just go buy the dash mount accessory.

Did they say which model years were affected by the "stuck to the window" syndrome? My C340 came with version 3.70 - but I don't know what year it was made. Guess the serial number would give them that information.

I have c340 model as well

I have c340 model as well and have never had an issue with the windshield mount. I don't remove it though. I take the GPS out when I need to do updates, etc.. but I have no reason to remove the mount so I guess mine is stuck very securely..lol

On your mark, Get set.....wait a minute......D-A-N-I-E-L..........now we can GO.... (Garmin c340)

Well, I got purchased mine

Well, I purchased mine this December so it's fairly brand new. Garmin told me after I called that if you leave it on for more than a month that it would fuse to the windshield and this would happen. It was so tight, I really thought I was going to crack the windshield trying to get it off.

I will tell you a little trick to make it stick.
Run some cold water over the suction cup part to moisten up the rubber, then dry it off. Firmly holding the mount evenly push it evenly so the whole suction cup make connect and all the air is gone from inside the suction cut. Now, flip back the plastic lever.
It will never fall again....

I hadn't experienced this with my Nuvi yet, nor with my Quest, which I had attached to my windshield for about a year (although that mount would periodivcally fall on its own).

Today I took was moving my sister-in-law's C330 to put it into her rental...lo and behold it stuck and I had to pry it off, which of course left pieces of the rubber on her windshield. It now won't stick at all.

I will give Garmin kudos as they are quick to replace mounts without any questions. My Quest mount broke over a year after I bought it and a quick phone call...new one in the mail. Say what you will about their software update emails as that is minor. I have no problem cheking their website for updates periodically. They really do have good service.

I'll be contacting them for a new mount for the c330 today.
