Just ordered Nuvi 1690

Anyone using this yet? I just got this for $359 shipping included and no tax from ebay. new in box. seems like a good deal. Did a quick search for all the latest GPS out there, and I'm basically choosing this over TomTom Go Live (the latest one) is because tomtom is only giving live service for 1 Month, where Garmin is giving a 2 year subscription. I think it's amazing. Anyone used nulink?

Garmin Nuvi 1690

We will be expecting a report from you soon on this. I have played with one at Best Buy and it seems slick with Google Live Search.

Will do. I'm planning on a road trip the day i get it.

good price if the EBay seller is a authorized Garmin dealer

That's a good price as long as the EBay seller is a authorized Garmin dealer and will give you a store receipt with it.

Garmin states in their warranty requirements that they do not honor any warranty on any items purchased from any auction site.

You will need to request a store receipt from them and not just a EBay purchase receipt just in case you ever need warranty work.

Most of the EBay sellers have a third party "Warranty Available" link on their auction page near the bottom and try to sell you one at additional cost.

Unfortunately, not a lot of good reports by the looks of it:

Although it appears Garmin is attempting to deal with the various issues.

just got one

I just started using the 1690 with nice results. The unit is very user friendly. I am looking forward to using on my way into work to see how well the traffic reporting is. The fuel pricing is right on, as is all the nulink info. I did have a problem with screen flicker. I learned that Garmin is aware of the problem. I sent mine back to garmin for a replacement which I recieved today and this new one works great. After I have a week or two to play with it I'll be back with an updated review, but so ar so good.

Damn, I'm 350. That's half

Damn, I'm 350. That's half than your change.

I gave it consideration but

I gave it consideration but in the end, I had to stay with the 885T. I refused to give up the removable battery, dual speakers, voice activation, audio books, FM transmitter, mp3 player and the headphone jack line out, just to get NULINK. And the 885T is cheaper.
